Organisms are organized in a system. There are six main groups in this system and these groups are... Species-Population-Community-Ecosystem-Biome-Biosphere. Without this system of organization, classifying an ecosystem would be difficult.

Now let's break down this diagram and give an example of this system---
The individual species is an Elk.
All of the individual elk make up a population.
All of the organisms and living things that live in these mountains, some being deer, pine trees, rabbits, maple trees, squirrels, bears,
blueberries, etc... make up a community.
This community and all of its abiotic factors which directly affect the living organisms are what make ecosystems. Some of these abiotic factors are things like weather, water availability, temperature, etc...
What makes a biome are groups of ecosystems and there biotic and abiotic factors.
Finally, the largest group, biosphere, are all of the biomes making up the world.
